My parents actually came to California for a visit. I never thought it would happen. Isaac was able to take a few days off of work and my mom was on spring break, so they drove down on Thursday. We had such a fun time and I was able to take the day off on Friday so we had the whole day together. On Friday morning we went to breakfast at IHOP (yum) and then drove down the coast looking at the beach/water/cliffs/seals. We tried to go to the best funnel cake place in Long Beach, but they had most of the streets closed for the Grand Prix of Long Beach (Indy car race). So we ended up having lunch at In-n-Out Burger which was so good and something you have to experience in CA. Then we relaxed at the apartment for a few hours and then went to dinner at Bubba Gump's on the Santa Monica Pier. They even gave me free ice cream without singing to me. So lucky! I'll have to post a picture of Isaac and my dad with their light-up cups. It was too funny. I had a fun birthday.
On Saturday morning my parents and Isaac went to the LA temple then we packed a lunch and went to the beach. We walked along the Venice boardwalk a little and then played in the water. Isaac and Alden even went boogie boarding. The day was quite warm but of course the water was freezing as usual. Thank goodness for wet suits. After showering at home, we went to dinner at a Chinese place that is a favorite of Alden's.
My family left on Sunday morning to drive back to snowy Wyoming. The visit was a little short but we had a lot of fun. Maybe they will actually want to come back one day. I will post some pictures when Alden gets them on CD for me.
Until next time...

Aging
I heard a very smart (and beautiful) woman say once that she has aged more gracefully and with more acceptance than her sister that was considered "the pretty one," while she was "the smart one." I find that true in my own family. I was the smart sister and even though I am turning 29 on the 17th of this month (that's for you Eliza) I think I look pretty good. No real wrinkles, no big issues. While my sister Carrie started fretting about wrinkles a few years ago, even though she is still beautiful and doesn't even come close to looking 30. We were both blessed with good skin and she has nothing to worry about. Don't get me wrong, I still have body image issues like any woman, I just try not to stress too much.
I am trying to find a decent picture of Alden and I to post. Maybe I'll have to post the one we had taken at a studio when Alden's whole family had them done. It turned out pretty good.
Today is Good Friday and so far it is good for me. I get off work early! Hurray! The only thing that sucks is I have to work some tomorrow too. But the overtime pay is worth it.
Until next time...
