Happy Halloween!

For all of those who like Halloween, have a fun day. I'm not one to dress up but I think it's cute to see the kids get all excited and dress up for the day. I guess I'll get more into it when I have kids. I have never liked being scared and for some reason, the costume thing is not really for me. I think if I had a fun party to go to or something like that I would like Halloween a lot more. So tonight we are hoping to get at least one trick-or-treater. There is a little girl in our apartment complex that we sort of know and she might come over, but other than that we have never had a trick-or-treater since moving to California. We'll see.

Nothing new is happening here. Boring as usual. It took a while but I got over my cold. The bad air quality made it last longer, I think. The fires got within about 15 miles of our place. The Malibu fire was the closest. Luckily it would have had to burn through a lot of city to reach us and that wasn't likely to happen. Most of the fires are contained or out now and the air is slowly getting better. Being close to the beach, the air is better than inland more. I'm just glad we are safe and didn't have to evacuate.

So camping turned out to be fun even though it was freezing. We ended up camping at a different campground than we originally planned because there was about 1 and 1/2 inches of snow on the ground and it was still coming down. We ended up at a campground at the bottom of the mountain and even though it was snowing there too, it wasn't sticking on the ground. We weren't even allowed to have a fire or use our charcoal grill, so we had to go buy a propane grill/stove to cook on. The fire restrictions hadn't been lifted yet. While Alden went to class for ski patrol, I stayed in camp and relaxed. Well, I tried to relax. I couldn't hold still for very long without getting cold, so I found things to do to keep warm and read my book in between. There was a stray dog in our camp and it looked like someone had dropped him off there. He looked so sad and hungry. We didn't bother him and he didn't bother us. At the end of out trip we ended up feeding him our scraps and let the ranger station know that he was there. I didn't want him to die of starvation or exposure. But we had a fun time camping and really like our new tent and new propane grill. Last weekend we went to Phoenix area to visit Alden's family. His parents and grandma were visiting his brothers, so we decided to see everyone. We had a fun time seeing everyone and getting reacquainted with the nephews. Of course David always has some project for Alden to help with so we helped put some shelves together for his closet. In return, David helped Alden put a hitch on the Santa Fe so we can tow a small trailer when we need to. We also got to see a great project that David just finished. It is a food storage shelving unit for canned goods that allows you to put the newly purchased food in a the back and you take out a can from the front, making it way easy to rotate the food. It turned out really cool. If only he could make them faster. He could make a bundle selling them to other people. Now it's back to work and I have a cold. Probably from Jaren, Alden's youngest nephew. Speaking of nephews, Alden's brother Loren and his wife Misty found out that they are having another BOY! Surprise...Surprise...Surprise! (with much sarcasm). Still no girls in the Bitter family. Until next time...

Camping

Not much is going on. We are going camping this weekend up around Mountain High Ski Resort. Alden has his annual OEC refresher course on Saturday and Sunday so we decided to go camping. He will go to the classes during the day and I am going to relax and read while he is gone. I am just hoping it isn't too cold. It is supposed to rain this morning and then be clear but chilly. And by chilly I don't mean 70 degrees like most Californians think is cold. I mean a high of 50 and getting into the low 30's at night. And sleeping in a tent! Until next time...
