Merry Christmas!

Alden and I had our "Christmas" together on Sunday. We opened our gifts to each other, so we don't have to take what we don't need when we go home. We are leaving on Friday and I am very excited about getting a break from work. Alden was so cute. He gets so excited for Christmas. He got me some books, a bunch of scrapbooking stuff, movies, clothes and more. His big present was a new pair of snow skis and then he got some clothes, gloves and a few scuba things. He is so hard to buy for. Most of the things he wants are either way expensive or I cannot pick them out. So, I gave him money and so did his parents and he picked out his own skis. I always feel bad not having very many surprises for him, but he never gives me a list of things he wants. That afternoon, we went to Universal Studios for the last time on our season passes. They had everything decorated for Christmas and they were doing their own special "Grinchmas." There were "Whoville" characters walking around and of course the Grinch and his dog. We stayed until five o'clock when they had their tree lighting ceremony. It started to get chilly so Alden went and got us hot chocolate. So yummy! Now we are in a mad rush to get everything ready to leave on Friday.

Isaac (my youngest brother) and two of his friends are coming to LA for a couple of days right when we leave. They are going to stay at our apartment. It's too bad we won't be there. Isaac is tons of fun. So not only do I have to get things ready to go, the apartment has to be clean for visitors.

Ted is off the rest of the week. He went to Park City, UT and called me today to tell me they spent most of the night on the road in the snow until someone came and towed them up the hill into Olympic village. That's what he gets for thinking a small car can go in the snow. And he hasn't driven in the snow for 30 years. I bet that would have been funny to see.

Thanksgiving and other plans

We had a good Thanksgiving. Even though I worked, we went to Alden's Aunt Sandy's house in Long Beach for dinner. Two of his cousins were there and we had a fun time. They even sent us home with leftovers. Yum! Then on Friday, we set up our Christmas tree and all the decorations. This year we decided to have only snowmen on our tree and it turned out so cute. I love snowmen and most of the ornaments that I have are snowmen (all of them were given to me by my mom over the years). We also added a few shiny balls to the tree. Our apartment looks very festive and even the under the tree is filled with wrapped presents. I am waiting for a few gifts to come in the mail and then I will be all finished. Yeah!

This weekend we are going to Arizona. We are picking up our old mattress to take back to Idaho. Jack was nice enough to store it for us for the past two years or so. Also, it is Jaren's third birthday (Alden's nephew) on the 10th and they are planning a party for him on Saturday. So that should be fun, helping with 12 extra kids for the party. Maybe not so much fun as crazy!
