Our trip home was fun. Of course the drive is always long, but worth it. We did the traditional family dinner on Thanksgiving and then my sister decided to wait in line at Wal-Mart for some presents for her kids. Alden and I went too and they got what they wanted for the kids. That place was crazy. I'm glad I didn't need anything and just stayed out of the way. Alden ended up spoiling me with a great gift...but you have to wait until Christmas to find out what it is. I'm waiting to use it until then too. I got to spend some great time with Chrissy and her family. Her kids are so cute. The youngest one, Shane, actually goes to me instead of his mom. Even when he is hurt or tired. It makes me want to move home even more. He cried so much when I left on Saturday night. I could hear him screaming all the way out to the car. The drive home took a long time because of traffic, which we knew would be a nightmare. It took three extra hours to get home than it is supposed to. Oh well, it was fun.

The ski hill is officially open (blown snow only, obviously). Alden will start working a few days a week up there next week. He is going to do Mon. and Tues. each week and stay overnight up there to save time and gas money. That saves the rest of the week to do acting and even go on a few auditions. If the writers strike doesn't end soon, he may end up working more at the ski hill. They are still negotiating.

Today we are getting our carpets cleaned again. We had a wall in our bathroom that was looking bad and starting to fall apart. Turns out the hot water pipe was leaking and soaking the wall. So we had construction on our apartment for a few days and the workers got our carpet so dirty. They still haven't painted the wall but at least the hole is covered. And the apartment manager is cleaning the carpets for free. I was going to be irate if they didn't clean up the mess that wasn't our fault.

Until next time...

Traveling Home for Thanksgiving

It's hard to believe that it has been two weeks since I posted last. There is nothing going on and it is hard to blog when everything is the same. So we are leaving today to go to my parents home in Wyoming for the Thanksgiving Holiday. I am excited to see my family and even more excited to be away from work for a couple of days. Right now we have so many patients that have mental issues and I definitely did not sign up to work at a psych hospital. But that is what it feels like. Crazy people every where!

Until next time...

Here you go Eliza...6 facts from my childhood.

1. We always had some baby animal that had to be fed on a bottle during the spring and summer. Usually a bunch of lambs and one or two calves. It's actually pretty cute when they see you coming and they get excited thinking they are going to get fed. They even "wag" their tails while eating.

2. Because of those baby animals we only went on one family vacation when I was young. We went to visit my brother in Albuquerque, NM for a week when I was in 5th grade.

3. We went camping a lot, especially in the fall. It was almost every weekend, but only overnight. And we had to get firewood for the coming winter. Not too much time for play.

4. I grew up loving "The Dukes of Hazard" tv show. My mom couldn't figure out why her three little kids loved that show. We had a "Dukes of Hazard" swimming pool and even a lunch box, and didn't miss a show. (The remake movie isn't near as good.)

5. Carrie, Rollie and I all shared one bedroom until I started 6th grade. Then my dad finished a room in our basement for Carrie and I.

6. I was a thumb sucker and finally quit when my dad threatened to cut off my thumb with his pocketknife.

Thanks for the encouragement about getting married. I haven't heard from Kaylie for probably a year at least. I need to get her started on this blog thing. It's way easier to keep in touch.

Until next time...

6 facts

6 little known facts about me...

1. I always wanted to work in the medical field and here I am working in a hospital as a physical therapist assistant.

2. I never thought I would use Spanish, especially taking one semester in high school. I didn't have a knack for picking up the language but once again here I am working in a hospital where the majority of the patients speak Spanish and I am still learning.

3. I thought I would go to college, get married, work a little, have kids and be a stay at home mom. The only things that happened were college and work.

4. I never thought I would live in Los Angeles, California. I did hope to visit one day though.

5. I thought I would marry a country boy and live in the west my whole life. Alden is the exact opposite. I still want to be a stay at home mom if possible.

6. I am not so subtle about my hints about wanting to get married and have kids. I try to tell Alden at least once a day about either marriage or having a baby. He gets the hints, now he just needs to act on them.
