Happy New Years!
We are home and had a good vacation. The trip to Idaho Falls took 17 hours because of an extra hour of traffic through Las Vegas and slow going on some snowy roads. By the end, we were both tired and getting quite silly. We ended up getting there at 5:45 am! The rest of the time we mostly visited with family and friends. On Christmas Eve we went to Evanston and spent the rest of our time there. Of course it isn't vacation without me getting a cold sore so the one that showed up on Sunday morning wasn't a big surprise. The fact that I had the stomach flu on the way home to CA was miserable. I haven't thrown up that much in a long time. Thank goodness for gallon size zip lock bags. They are heaven sent when you have to throw up in the car. Just zip it closed and throw it away at the next stop. All contents and smell is contained. Alden was so sweet. He drove the whole way on only three hours of sleep and he didn't feel well either. But at least he wasn't throwing up. He took such good care of me, even rubbing my sore back as he drove. I forgot how many muscles it takes to throw up, and they are still sore. I am finally starting to feel like my self again and I am glad work has been a little slow. My balance isn't much better than some of my patients.
Enough of that. Alden was working last night (and staying up at the ski hill to work today), so I went to bed early and slept through the new years celebrations. (I think I needed the rest.) It has never been a big deal for me to stay up, especially when there isn't a fun party to go to. Ted gave me two gift cards for IHOP for Christmas and we are excited to use them to go to breakfast one of these days. Yum!
Until next time...
